One more day of gathering papers, power adapters, language phrasebooks, and our wits before we hit the road (or jet stream, rather). Beth's itinerary has been printed and bound (seriously), and we're just about ready to go!

I just looked at a copy of your itinerary and I cannot even tell you how jealous I am. If you're looking for a good restaurant in Florence, I know a couple. One is called something like Baldovino and it's right past Santa Croce (pass the big statue of Dante and it's on the left side of the street). Fantastic tiramisu there. There's another called Belle Donne near Santa Maria Novella, in the warren of streets to the east. I had the gnocchi and I was pleased. There's a good sandwich shop just a few blocks off of the Piazza della Reppublica, across the street from Orsanmichele. It's literally a hole in the wall.
Hopefully, my recommendations indicate my jealousy. Have fun!
It's good to be pleased with gnocchi. Also, I think holes in the walls have to be good on general principle, otherwise they'd be closed, dontcha think?
